So my first month of Learning LaLoon was by far the most challenging and time consuming times in CoC and RR. Here is an overview of how I remember my progress:
When the June 2015 sneak peeks first appeared, I was mostly disappointed. Another air sweeper would hurt LaLoon before my series even began! I was even considering putting the whole blog thing on hold indefinitely. It was a a tense time...
Luckily the rest of the update didn't turn out as bad. I didn't mind the new dragon update as I don't see it affecting my offensive attacks in the near future. I see all drag-focused attacks as a TH8 strategy that I'd like to leave behind me as I'm now a LaLooner :) I was excited for the Titan and Legend League. Shout out to Eric for inspiring the trophy pusher in each of us Raiders. I was planning on shooting for Titan like Eric had been able to do as a TH9 (before the update) but ended up backing out when I found there would be ZERO gems or achievements other than bragging rights. Like a true woman, I'm only in it for the gems so I've moved on to green pastures. The dark spell factory was exciting but a bigger game changer than the general Clash population realizes. I'm definitely planning on using poison in my regular spell line up. I know this should influence what we get in enemy war CCs but I'm curious to see just how much. It's just so easy to take out CC witches, wiz, archers, etc. I'm sure we'll be seeing tankier units like valks and dragons in more serious war clans. After poison finishes in my lab, I'd like to get my haste up to have my LaLooning rocking even more threes in war. Until then, my hogging still needs a little work. It is getting me the three stars, but I'm still making too many mistakes for me to be satisfied enough to move on. I'm kinda sorta hoping other people will teach me what they've learned about the new spells from their trial and error. Saves me the time, effort, and gems. Yeah I'm selfish like that. A lot of people are downplaying the earthquake spell, but I'm actually really excited! I feel its treated a lot like valks... powerful when used correctly but overlooked most of the time. I'd definitely like to try a Strawberry Shake attack (Valk +Quake)... can I trademark that name? Yeah! Let's do it!!! Well you heard/read it here first! As I mentioned, I'm polishing my hogging for the next few weeks. After that, I'd like to work on seamlessly incorporating the new spells into my LaLooning and hogging. And then... fingers crossed... I'll finally try some new attacks. Sometime in August? Mebbe? Mebbe not? Blog-wise, I may need to take a little more time with my 3 star series than I thought. The hogging series probably won't start until the end of August? Mebbe? Mebbe not? Clearly, I still have a lot of questions I need to answer. But I'm working on it... At my war posts are consistent... so I've got that going for me... Category: The Journey Now that my "Journey" series is pretty much caught up to present day and my non-existent readers know how I ended up blogging at RR, the posts under that Category will be far fewer. Fear not my lovely lurkers! From here on out, I'll be working towards finally getting a few new series going simultaneously.
So without further ado, I bring you: "Learning LaLoon", "Raider Rumors", "The War Room", and "Fifteen minutes of Fame" as the newest Categories. I'll list relevant Categories at the bottom of each post and you can search for posts from a specific Category under the menu up top or in in the sidebar ---> So those of you jumping in months from now can skip my sob story in "The Journey" Category and just get to learning portion of LaLoon if that's what tickles your pickle and floats your boat. I also am setting the following tentative schedule: Monday- a collection of posts on whatever strategy series I'm blogging about at the moment (ex. the first is Learning LaLoon). Any resources I'll mention in these posts will added to the LaLoon reference page under Resources (look up top...a little higher...yup, you got it!) You can also see a sneak peek of the series I have planned after LaLoon. Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday- will showcase the previous week's Reddit Raider clan war stats under the "Raider Rumors" Category. I'm also hoping to throw in a few of my war plans that correspond to attacks in these wars, which will be posted under "The War Room" Category. I have a pretty big backlog of war records as we war 3 times a week and I've already been at RR for 2 months. I might need to double up on these posts or squeeze in a few more on other days. Until then, you can check out our (mostly) up-to-date war log up top under About. Friday- will be a grab bag of whatever I'm in the mood for... Clash relevant of course! At least for now... It could be a guest speaker under the "Fifteen Minutes of Fame" Category. It could be a chance to catch up on what's new with Wife under "The Journey" Category. It could be general Supercell or Reddit Raider happenings under "Raider Rumors". You never know what you'll get when you Clash with me! As I've mentioned, I have a backlog of posts planned and have already started to schedule a few in advance. The next couple of months will be a bit post heavy, but it should level off around August. Until then, its gonna be a loooooong and busy summer! Category: The Journey, Learning LaLoon, Raider Rumors, The War Room, 15 Minutes of Fame I finished writing and scheduling all of my "Journey" blog posts in the first few weeks of June. After that, I focused on building the framework for my blog. It ended up surprisingly very much like I had envisioned during my less than sober time in the woods.
Occasionally, I would alter my plan to make use of fun little features I would discover. At one point near the beginning, I had to almost completely redo my resource page into dozens of smaller pages as it just got to filled with too much shtuff. Argh! And the time spent creating all those pages and links!!! Argh!!! And the times I needed to go in to mess with the coding!!! ARGH!!! I really wanted to rant to someone but I wasn't ready to spill the beans on my secret project just yet :( I may have come off as extra annoying/needy in chat. I'm SO sorry about that Raiders! A couple of weeks ago (from when I write this), I was chatting away in one of my happier moments in GroupMe and made a comment that people should "make love...and clan wars" (a play on "make love...not war", get it? get it?). Frank said I should make it mine. Done! And thus I was all grown up and had a slogan :) Also about this time, Veryous started limiting my questions to 10 per episode. As frustrating as that was and as much as I complained about it, which was ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME, this helped me immensely in creating better quality questions. I'll never let him know how grateful I am for helping me to find my focus in my episodes. It's not like he has the Google skills to find this post...right? ;) My confidence issue was still a little shaky at that point. I think leadership may have been a teeny tiny bit annoyed and given their version of a stern talking-to/pep talk. In order to appease the powers-that-be, I gave off a super cocky attitude for the next few days, and that actually worked! One of those fake it 'til you make it dealios, I guess. The confidence thing hasn't really been an issue since then :) Ability-wise, I was at the point where war farmers and 2-star bases from enemy clans were getting to be huge buzz kills. Remember, I was silently raging about making hyperlinks and editing the css for my blog, so I may have used the poor war matches as a CoC rage outlet. For several weeks. Oops, sorry leadership! Raiders, you dealt with my mood swings surprisingly well. Let's hope it doesn't happen again... but then again, I am a woman. Coincidentally, leadership gave in to my demands for a better war match right around the time when blog building was looking up. The clan probably vividly remembers my mood shifting at that point. Can't have RR taking all the credit for that! As I type this at the end of June, I'm over the worst part of building my blog. Phew! Now its just a matter of posting my blog strategy series, which is the fun part for me! Once I get enough of those posts, I think I'll do a soft launch with leadership (tentatively in mid-July) and then release to the rest of the Raiders (tentatively the end of July). I should catch up with war posts around August, and things can eventually settle down enough to where I can investigate that big bright orb in the sky. With an ice cold beverage. On the beach. Just in time for snow. Category: The Journey So there I was, knowing I wanted to make a blog about me, the strategies I was learning, and the awesome Reddit Raiders. I had a general idea and started planning and posting while I worked behind-the-scenes setting up the framework for the site. That initial version wasn't too pretty, but it was a starting point.
About the time I was first posting in my blog, I decided to expand further to feature other learning series beyond LaLoon. I suppose about this time people had taken notice of my many LaLoon questions and were trying it out for themselves! Frank, who introduced me to my one true love, also happened to be dictator... ahem leader of RR. He was hinting that more members needed to work on hogging as the clan had been too LaLoon focused lately. Again, I take all the blame... ahem credit for that. To this day, I'm not sure if his not-so-subtle hints to hog more were directed to the clan or mostly me... but I'm flattered either way! And so, season 1 of "LaLoon" was wrapping up AS season 2 "Bacon" was starting up AS I was secretly creating my blog AS I was going insane! At least more insane than normal. It was an extremely busy time and my donations and chitchatting in-game took a big hit. The withdrawal wasn't as bad as I expected as I still saw this blog as Clash time, just in a different form. I dropped a few super subtle hints in chat but otherwise wanted to kept the blog hush hush until I had something more presentable and at least had a few LaLoon posts up. I had a general vision of where I wanted to go with my blog, but I wasn't quite sure of all the little details that would get me there. Luckily, there was a weekend in early June where I went out into the woods with a few friends. Being away from the internet and drinking beer and eating cheese curds and brats definitely helped give me direction. I now knew exactly how I was gonna run this blog. I came back SUPER excited and REALLY wanted to spill the beans. A few members took those hints to mean I was trying to get knocked up haha! Frank was close with his guess later of making podcasts. I may have also tried throwing people off the trail by hinting at producing a dirty movie: The CoC Chronicles... Category: The Journey |
